It is with heavy hearts that we inform the Grace Art Camp community that Gerardo Calderon, a beloved teaching artist, assembly guitarist and percussionist, advisor, friend, and recently nominated Artist Representative on the Grace Institute Board of Directors, passed away on January 21, 2024 in Mexico, with his family by his side.

Gerardo meant so much to his friends and colleagues. He shared a loving, bright energy in every interaction, as well as a mischievous smile and a love for life. He showed deep kindness and generosity as a teaching artist and worked hard to create a welcoming space for all. His passion for music and artistry always inspired and brought joy to those around him. 

We would like to express our deepest sympathy to all of Gerardo’s family and friends.

All are welcome to attend a memorial ceremony of candles, flowers, and music for Gerardo, hosted by Ideal PDX and Teatro Milagro on Sunday, June 28, 2024, 11:00 am, at 525 SE Stark St., Portland, OR 97214.
