Sadly, with the rising number of COVID-19 cases and Governor Kate Brown’s direction to “pause” activities outside the home, we have cancelled planned classes on November 23 and 24.

Tentatively, we hope to offer four classes on December 21, including mosaic mirrors, pyrography ornaments and fused glass, as long as we can do so safely for our students and staff.

This fall, Grace Institute will offer several in-person, hands-on studio art classes taught by Grace Art Camp artists! Each class will strictly adhere to health and safety precautions set by state and federal authorities. (Details appear below.) Artists from Grace Art Camp will offer a variety of new and favorite art projects in-person, thanks to our new see-through fully-shielded masks. We so look forward to seeing many of you this fall!

On Friday, November 6 — a PPS no school day — there will be four 2-hour classes limited to 10 students each: Printing with Gelli Plates, Make a 3D Pop-Up Card, Make Your Own Marbled Paper, and Pyrography on Wood. Minimum for each class is six; class maximum is 10.

Monday, December 21st –More information on classes planned for this PPS no school day will be available the beginning of December. Minimum for each class is four; class maximum is 8.

Precautions for COVID-19

Both the CDC and OHA have said that safely-structured, single-session workshops and classes are less risky than camps, schools or multi-session classes. To protect your children and our staff during these single session classes, Grace Institute is implementing many precautions including:

  • Staggered drop-off and pick-up times for parent sign-in are scheduled with temperature checks and a brief health questionnaire.
  • Each participant will have a separate, sanitized cubby for a jacket. Please do not bring anything else except a mask and filled water bottle. Two classes suggest smocks.
  • Each class cohort will have 10 participants maximum, plus an artist and a studio counselor – each with 35-square feet of room space per person as required.
  • Masks for participants are required at all times. We will have extra KN95s on hand.
  • Artists and staff will wear state-of-the art masks with see-through shields and fabric. (Think beekeeper style.)
  • Restroom breaks will also be staggered by cohorts, with timed hand-washing.
  • Restrooms and studios will be sanitized between each cohort use.
  • No guests, parents or additional staff will be allowed into the studio areas.
  • Sorry, at this time, snacks are not allowed.

More specific information will be provided in your welcome letter.
