Bonjou! Every week of Art Camp is special – a new set of campers, a different assortment of staff – and always a fresh week for a new community to emerge amidst friends reconnecting and new ones being made!
Today was filled with Elsy Dinvil, Art Camp’s Guest Artist this summer. Elsy led a cooking studio and shared stories of growing up in Haiti. Campers learned about plantains and pikleez as well as tasting a variety of culinary Haitian flavors. Other projects this week have included dancing and playing Haitian rhythms, making felted or paper mache indigenous birds to Hispaniola, clay story scenes, glass baskets, and tap tap inspired t-shirts, not to mention animated chalk people. . . .
